The Day of the Lord’s Vengeance

Is not the Lord able when we are not
Is not He capable by unlimited power
Why do we act as if He in fact is blind
When it is us, blinded by doubt and fear

Too fearful to extend our faith beyond
What we perceive with our eyes and ears
Too doubtful to trust Him for the miracles
That He has so often done to reveal himself

He is and there is none other who like Him
Who created the heavens and the earth
The land and sea so full of living creatures
And man, made in His own image and likeness

He is our Father so full of love and mercy for us
He sent His only Son showing His compassion
Proving His ability to lift us out of our sin
And yet we grope about ever complaining

Is it the gas prices or the Health Care scare
The falling dollar or the economic stress
The plagues that He promised to pour out
On all flesh to chasten man for his rebellion

Yet we have the promise of preservation
The protection of a loving Father and Lord
In the midst of pestilence is He not our shelter
From the storm that rages as we mount up

On wings of an eagle and look below at all
The mass of calamity that is coming to pass
We are the eagles who proclaim salvation
To a perishing world without the hope to come

Are not all these catastrophes prophesied
They are surly coming to pass even now
So why do we complain as is we do not know
Foretold to us is all that is being fulfilled today

Should we not rejoice that our redemption
Nearer each day as things get worse and worse
We are the Army of the Lord who is our King
That goes before us to bring about His plan

Are we not to be fearless and proclaim Him
Who alone is able to save to the uttermost
Who has set the times and the seasons to come
And is this not the Day of the Lord’s vengeance!
