Push Replay

Things to do, the time flies by swiftly
One day turns to another, the sun rises, the sun sets
Another day, gone never to return, not to be undone
A multitude of words, who can count them, mostly vanity

The night, sleep for the worker, work for the night creatures
Its best product, rest, for those who prowl, the gain of iniquity
The day comes and the sleepless ones long for it
The alarm rings the sleepers rise to another day of vanity, push replay!

Another cup of coffee, cream or sugar not important
Wake up and count the hours until day is done or undone
Take a break and talk to someone about the weather
Waiting, waiting the hours passing, the evening comes, go home!

Sing to Him in One Accord

The best of every poem is sung to Him with voices in high praises
With voices in harmony and music complimenting the praise
To Him belongs our highest worship on golden harps
With trumpets blearing, resounding notes on high
With our pure hearts and holy hands playing

To Him who is worthy we lift every voice
Crescendos higher and we find able complement
No dissonance, in harmony from the tonic to the score
Lips moving by One Spirit carrying every word to His throne
To the place where sits He who has ordained everyone who praises

The Deeper Life

Into the depths of Christ I plunge
What else is there but to be purged of sin
Those faults that hinder His life in me
Must all be surrendered to His life within

To much of me to little of Him
So into the depths of His Spirit I’ll swim
    Deeper than I’ve ever been
For the shallows purge not carnality

I need to find that part I miss
  The promise of complete fullness
Laying aside every remnant of pride
To find that place in Him to abide

Although In Him I have found true rest
Power over sin and His love and grace
Yet more of Him and less of me
Is still ahead, so I’ll press on

Until the day He calls me home
There’s more to gain in His highest call
Than is offered by this world’s store
With all its fortune, with all its fame

Onward I press, no turning back
  Lot’s wife’s pillar of salt I taste
To remind me of what’s in store
For those who doubt and turn back for more

Of the old life’s pleasures
  Rather than the cross’ shame
The broad road’s lined with quick
And easy pleasure to numb sin’s shame

Once I walked down that that easy way
My friends so many it was easy to say
Yes to pleasure and no to the cross
So many on the broad road to share in one’s loss

The loss of things eternally blessed
In heaven protected from the moth and the rust
That corrupts all of this word’s gain
Every day is for earning in the heavenly place

Raise up, oh you sons of God
Who are double minded in thought
And loose more day by day
Of the glorious riches in Christ to be gained

When dying with Him
To a selfish life full of shame
And finding true value in His cross
Where to live is Christ and to die is gain!

Come Drink of Pure Waters

When in a rut of waiting long for requests now overdue

Dig deep within your eternal soul for patience yet to grow

There you will find a hidden well, a spring from God’s own throne

Whose width and depth and wealthy store never can be known!

Let her peace flow out like a mighty stream, her bounty always renewed

Let no stone be thrown to stop her spring, no foreigner drink her dew

Bless her fount of eternal bliss, bless her waters pure

Come drink of her all lovers pure with clean hearts freely forever more.

One Thing’s Important

Put away the vain thing, the vanity of life

Put on Christ in His fullness, pure and holy

Put off the old man, dead and corrupting

Put your holy hands to His plow, His yoke is easy, His burden light!

Why do we drink the foreign waters, the currents of the self-life

When we have the living waters to drink without money, without cost

Where are the ones who despised His gift of grace

Will not rise to life once they are twice dead!

Could we miss His highest call for just a piece of stale bread

Come up higher, He calls but we eat vanity when we deny His call

Can we deny Him when He offers true life, free from sin’s power

Call on Him for He is near, and He who made the ear will hear y our cry

So don’t try to understand things too profound for you

Simple things are obvious even to the slow and uneducated

Say to the Lord your heart’s questions and He will cause you to know

So many things hidden from the wise and made known to the simple who seek His face!

Poems come from the depths within
the best ones from the trials that send
us to our knees in prayer
the fires so hot to purge the chaff!

When written from that place of grace
bring light and healing to increase one's faith
to wait within His presence above
until He brings forth the precious work!

A work within the heart of man
that He has made and transforms in grace
free of all our worldly cares
free to fly above the storms

Storms that destroy both lives and homes
of those who set not their hope in Him
who gave His all that we could return
and find rest in God's eternal plan!
