A Higher Witness

Pitter, patter, pitter patter
the rain falls on the roof
      rain, rain and more rain
          falling from the clouds!

Puddles, puddles everywhere
   the pools of water sit
no place to run, await the sun
rise to the clouds, their witness Rests!

The thunder spoke
   it roared its voice
      no one opposed
both the prosecution and defense Rest,

Case closed!

Made Somewhere

It’s broke again, human made

             Not important where!

No fix in sight, it’s a throw away

            Made to break

            Even your bank account!

So you need it! Buy another, made to break

            Handle with care

            It will break anyway

      Human made!

(Pause)

Made forever, eternal life

Conformed to the image of Him

            God’s handiwork, immortal

Restored to the life of His Son

Jesus Christ, the life giving Spirit

            Only begotten of the Father

            The First and the Last,

            Alpha and Omega

He died to give you His life

            Bruised, for your transgressions

Smitten, that you might be made whole

      Heaven made!

Ode to the Joyless Season

Weeping, enduring the night

   Joyless, yet in your presence

      You are always there,

So where is the joy of Your Salvation

The bottle is empty, the wine no more

The joyful feast was so full of joy

Yet the quietness is not totally joyless

         It’s just not joyfully, joyful

So we wait for the joy that’s in the fountain

It will spring again in the morning

For the new wine is on the vine

The harvest near, comes in the morning

So endure the joyless wait in hope

There is the smell of flowers in the vine

The scent of promise, the vintage comes

Though the cluster unseen, the flowers are fragrant

Be content for the season of fragrance in waiting

For to everything there is a season, turn, turn, turn

For the harvest of joy not yet in the bottle

Be still and know that He is the Lord of the Harvest!
